Or send the form
Use the form further down this page. It helps to include:
- The type of system: gas storage, gas continuous flow, electric storage, heat pump or solar.
- The brand and model, and its age if you know it.
- Where it is: outside, laundry, cupboard, roof space.
- What is wrong: no hot water, leaking, running out, or planning ahead.
- Your suburb.
Photos of the unit and its label are very useful if you can send them when the contractor contacts you.
If it is an emergency
If you smell gas, turn the gas off at the meter if safe, ventilate, leave the area and call the gas network's emergency line. If your tank is leaking, turn off the cold water to the unit and the power or gas. Our guide to the day your hot water fails has more detail.
How your details are used
Your details are passed to a local contractor so they can contact you about your job. See our privacy policy.
What a contractor will usually ask
Expect questions about how many people live in the home, how many bathrooms are used at once, whether you have mains gas, and whether your electric tank is on an off-peak circuit. Those answers decide the size and type of system the quote is based on, so it is worth having them ready.
If you are planning ahead rather than dealing with a failure, say so — it gives the contractor time to price more than one option, such as a heat pump alongside a like-for-like tank.
